Portfolio Manager, Frontier, Partner
Chris is a portfolio manager for our frontier equity strategy. He joined the investment team in 2015 and has more than 20 years of industry experience in securities analysis and the management of international, emerging markets and global portfolios.
Chris sees his work at Frontier Market Asset Management as contributing to the development of thriving capital markets in frontier countries while also providing a unique and attractive source of long-term returns for investors. He brings a highly developed and disciplined approach to fundamental research, securities analysis, and portfolio risk management to this work.
Previously Chris served as Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager with Allianz Global Investors and Nicholas-Applegate Capital Management, managing a six-person global strategies group with responsibilities for developed and emerging markets coverage. He managed International Small Cap and Global All Cap strategies using an investment philosophy designed to capitalize on behavioral inefficiencies with a focus on positive fundamental change. Prior to that, Chris worked as an analyst in the investment banking division of Lehman Brothers. He worked with group members and senior management teams to structure and complete equity offerings, debt financings, and mergers & acquisitions.
Chris holds a B.S. degree in business administration from the University of Southern California and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. Chris is a fellow with the Robert Toigo Foundation, a fellow with the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management, and a board member of Dwell.
How and why did you get into this business?
I started on the buy-side as an intern while completing my M.B.A. at UC Berkeley. I was attracted to the challenge of finding value in a business before it was widely recognized.

The challenge of creating value in a dynamic and diverse investment universe.
What do you like to do in your downtime away from work?
Gardening and cooking, from my backyard to my dinner plate. I also play indoor soccer.
